Border Economic Cooperation Zone under consideration

VGP – Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Friday chaired a meeting to discuss on the establishment of Ha Tinh- Bolykhamxay Border Economic Cooperation Zone.

The establishment of the zone will help Ha Tinh easily get access to official development assistance and other capital to invest in infrastructure, said Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Kim Cu.

It also promotes “soft infrastructure” cooperation, such as simplification of administrative procedures, tourism coordination, mechanism, policies and investment.

The economic cooperation zone is expected to contribute to the socio-economic development and poverty reduction in the locality.

The Deputy PM praised Ha Tinh’s initiative of setting up this zone and assigned the -province to develop the project.

He also asked Ha Tinh to consider the feasibility and scale of the project, issues related to investment, consumption market, investment resources, suitable policies and mechanism for investment attraction.

Relevant ministries and sectors were also requested to discuss on the initiative with Lao side.
