Bắc Ninh Festival 2010 to be held in mid-April

VGP - The northern province of Bắc Ninh will hold its Festival 2010 from April 14-18 to celebrate the 1,000th founding anniversary of Thăng Long-Hà Nội and welcome the UNESCO’s recognition of Quan họ Bắc Ninh (love duet folk singing) as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The festival themed “Bắc Ninh Culture- Convergence and Shine” will feature an incense-burning ceremony at the Đô Temple, a love duet singing contest, a reception of the UNESCO’s heritage certificate, a trade and tourism fair, and an exhibition on Bắc Ninh’s socio-economic development.

Meanwhile, the province’s specialty products, including Đông Hồ wood-block printings, Phù Lãng and Luy Lâu pottery, Đại Bái bronze wares, Đồng Kỵ furniture, and Xuân Lai bamboo products, will also be displayed during the festival.

With an aim to bring the Kinh Bắc region closer to tourists, the festival’s organization committee has introduced four special tour itineraries with Bắc Ninh City and other popular sites of traditional craft villages and pagodas as the main tourist attractions.
