At WEF, PM receives neighbor leaders

VGP – On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia in Hồ Chí Minh City, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng this evening hosted a number of receptions given to leaders of China, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.

The host leaders highly spoke of the guests’ presence at the ongoing WEF on East Asia 2010.

Welcoming Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Zhizhen, PM Dũng showed his pleasure at recent achievements of China as well as at the flourishing comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

He reconfirmed Việt Nam’s consistent policy to placing the bilateral relationship with China to a new plane and expected to see closer and more effective cooperation between the CPPCC and the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee.

In his meeting with Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen, PM Dũng was pleased that the long-standing friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Việt Nam and Cambodia are consolidated and strengthened, benefiting both sides.

He suggested the Cambodian Government offer favorable conditions for Vietnamese investors doing business there and urged the two countries to speed up the border demarcation and landmark planting on schedule.

Talking to Lao PM Bouasone Bouphavanh on the same day, PM Dũng held that Việt Nam encourages its enterprises to do investments in Laos, expecting the neighbor government to back their business activities.

The two PMs reached consensus in further boosting economic, trade and investment cooperation and building a mechanism for sharing business information.

They also pledged to cement bilateral and multilateral cooperation while contributing to the construction of the ASEAN Community.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and Thai PM Abhisit Vejjajiva, during their meeting in Hồ Chí Minh City, agreed to entrust their Foreign Ministries to early organize the meeting of the Việt Nam-Thailand Trade Cooperation Committee and resume the governmental-level joint meeting to facilitate economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries and within the East-West corridor and Mekong sub-region countries.

In his reception given to Myanmar PM Thein Sein, PM Dũng stated that Việt Nam always attaches importance to its traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Myanmar.

They confirmed to urge relevant ministries and agencies to promote cooperation in agriculture, industrial crop plantation, seafood, finance-banking, aviation, telecommunications, petroleum, mining, civil engineering, trade and investment.

All guest leaders showed their admiration to Việt Nam’s efforts to overcome the global economic recession and maintain its high growth rate.

They pledged to of the regional countries create best conditions for business and investment activities between Vietnamese enterprises and their business circles.

The WEF on East Asia 2010, held in Việt Nam, as they described, will enhance not only economic cooperation but also the friendships in the region.
