VGP - The third Asia-Europe New Music Festival 2018 has opened at the Ha Noi Opera House.

November 27, 2018 4:55 PM GMT+7

The third Asia-Europe New Music Festival has attracted over 300 musicians and artists from around the world.

With the theme of “The Asia-Europe Musical Bridge”, the festival is considered an artistic forum to promote connectivity among nations in the road to music creativity.

The event has attracted more than 300 artists and musicians from countries and territories worldwide.

At the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnamese Musicians’ Associations Do Hong Quan said this year’s festival is also a chance for composers and artists to introduce new compositions of symphony, chamber music, choral music and folk-inspired music. They can also gain an insight into the development of Vietnamese music through different activities.

Chairman of the Alliance of Arts and Literature Associations of Viet Nam poet Huu Thinh said following the previous events in 2014 and 2016, the third festival, themed “Sound Bridge”, continues to be the rendezvous for the world’s leading composers and artists to introduce artistic values and cultural identities of their countries, thereby helping to enhance the friendship and cultural cooperation between Asian and European nations.

After the opening ceremony, audiences enjoyed a concert featuring 11 musical pieces of composers from different countries, performed by the Viet Nam National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji and Greek conductor Zoe Zeniodi.

The festival features several concerts, the introduction of traditional musical instruments and rituals of Viet Nam, and visits to some destinations in Ha Noi and Ninh Binh province.

The event will last through November 28.
