Director Hien made the announcement on Tuesday in Ha Noi at a seminar on the campaign.

The campaign was conducted in four districts namely Thanh Son (Phu Tho province), Phu Vang (Thua Thien Hue province), Cu Kuin (Da Lak province) and Vung Tau City (Ba Ria-Vung Tau province).

The move aims to eradicate measles in accordance with the goal of the World Health Organization (WHO) by 2017 and constrain rubella.

With the support of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) targets to provide shots for around 23 million Vietnamese children between 1 and 14 years old nationwide at schools and communal clinics.

The program targets to cover 95% of children aged 1-14, ensuring good quality and safety services./.
