Agriculture, telecommunication regarded as key pillars of VN-Tanzania cooperation

Majaliwa stressed the point on July 12 at his meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, who is on working visit to the African country.

He said Viet Nam’s stories have inspired Tanzanian people to gain national liberation and advance development.

Majaliwa called for Viet Nam to step up investment and share experience of rice cultivation and aquaculture with Tanzania.

Meanwhile, Deputy PM Dung affirmed Viet Nam always attaches importance to broadening cooperation with Tanzania that has maintained high and stable growth in recent time.

Dung also spoke highly of Tanzania’s positive contribution to peace, stability and connectivity in Southern Africa in particular and across the African continent in general.

The two sides agreed to foster political ties through exchange of delegations at all levels and continue mutual coordination and support at the United Nations and other international forums.

The two leaders agreed that agriculture and telecommunication will be the key pillars of the bilateral ties and pledged to coordinate in organizing the 2^nd meeting of the Viet Nam-Tanzania Joint Committee soon.

The host PM committed to facilitating joint investment in such fields like agriculture, tourism and telecommunication and suggested both countries soon open direct air route between Ho Chi Minh City and Dar Es Salaam in a bid to boost bilateral trade.

The pair tasked inferior levels to foster talks for early signing of agreements to create favorable legal framework for advancing bilateral cooperation, particularly the agreements on investment encouragement and protection and on double-taxation avoidance.
