Activities to boost ties with Japan

VNGOP – As part of preparatory work for the official friendly visit to Japan by the State President late 2007 and for the 35th anniversary of the Vietnam-Japan diplomatic tie establishing (Septemebr 21, 1973-September 21, 2008), considering the report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the official visit to Japan by Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng delivered on June 08 his opinions to direct the promotion of Vietnam-Japan relationship in the time to come.

The PM ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to collaborate with the relevant agencies to found a committee to speed up the preparations of the 35th anniversary of diplomatic tie establishing; to promote the Vietnam-Japan relation through existing mechanisms, especially the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee; and to prepare the State President's visit to Japan at the end of the year.

The Ministry of Trade was assigned to boost negotiations for the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). The ministries of Planning and Investment, Industry, Culture-Information, Resources and Environment, Science and Technology should promptly realize the agreements made at the first meeting of the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee.
