ASEM promotes economic, social inclusion in Asia, Europe

VGP – As many as 180 delegates from 53 ASEM members will attend the ASEM Conference on “Promoting Economic & Social Inclusion in Asia & Europe” on May 16-17 in Nha Trang City, in the central province of Khanh Hoa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 15 organized a press conference to provide further information about ASEM Conference.  

The conference, an initiative and proposal of Viet Nam approved at the 12th ASEM Summit in Brussels, Belgium in October, 2018, will be co-organized by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Investment and Khanh Hoa Province’s People’s Committee. 

Deputy head of the Multilateral Economic Cooperation Department, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Hong Van said that sustainable, inclusive and creative development is the top priority of every nation. 

The fourth industrial revolution opens more opportunities for growth and expand development gap, especially digital, income and employment gaps, she added. 

The event will focus on issues of international concerns and manifest the leading role of ASEM, making contributions to the international efforts in realizing commitments to boosting sustainable and inclusive development as well as effectively launching the United Nations Agenda 2030. 

The conference has proved the meaningful contributions of Viet Nam to the global efforts in general and ASEM cooperation in particular and facilitated the enhancement of the bilateral cooperation between Viet Nam and ASEM members.
