ASEAN+3 open research group meeting on financial cooperation

VGP – The first ASEAN+3 research group meeting on financial cooperation among ASEAN countries and China, Japan and the Republic of Korea was convened today in Hà Nội.

The meeting placed focus on regional financial cooperation programs which will be reported to the 14th ASEAN Finance Ministers’ Meeting and the ASEAN 3 Finance Ministers’ Meeting scheduled in early April in Việt Nam’s coastal central city of Nha Trang.

During the meetings, which last until March 5, nine topics are put on the table, namely results of researches on regional financial cooperation programs; trade payment and risk management; economic monitoring mechanisms in ASEAN and East Asia; activities to realize the Asia Bond Market Initiative (ABMI); the multilateralization of the Chiang Mai Initiative; the liberalization of financial services; the capital account liberalization; the roadmap to implement the plan on capital market development; the infrastructure fund; and the performance of ASEAN and ASEAN 3.

As the host to the ASEAN and ASEAN 3 Ministers’ Meeting in 2010, Vietnamese agencies are actively preparing for the successful regional meetings.
