VGP – ASEAN foreign ministers on Friday issued a statement expressing their grave concern over the escalation of tension in the Korean Peninsula, including the nuclear tests and ballistic missile launches by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The regional foreign ministers called on relevant parties to exercise self-restraint in order to de-escalate the tension and resume dialogue on the Korean Peninsula.

ASEAN is mindful that instability in the Korean Peninsula seriously impacts the region and beyond.

The foreign ministers also urged the DPRK to fully comply with all relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolutions and international law in the interest of maintaining international peace and security./.
