APEC 2017 Second Senior Officials Meeting opens

VGP - The APEC 2017 Second Senior Officials Meeting (SOM2) officially opened on May 17 in Ha Noi.

Since the organization of the SOM1 and related meetings, regional and global economies have released positive figures, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Chair of SOM APEC 2017.

Within the recent nine days, nearly 50 meetings, conferences and meetings were held between committees and working groups of the APEC to propose core contents of the SOM2.

Representatives of the APEC member economies continue the implementation of ratified priorities, enhance new initiatives and preparations for the Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Trade, and starting to shape the agenda and identify possible deliverables for the Leaders’ Week in November in the central city of Da Nang.

From May 17-18, delegates will discuss issues related to the progress of developing the APEC Framework on Cross-border E-commerce Facilitation and discuss recent developments of FTAs/RTAs in the region and the implementation of Lima Declaration on the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP).
