The two-day meeting, March 8–9, is focusing on experience of highlighting legislative bodies’ role in overcoming crisis consequences, promoting development in ASEAN, responding to the economic downturn, restructuring economies, enhancing State administration and poverty reduction for sustainable development in the post-crisis period.

They also confirmed the contributions of ASEAN parliaments to consolidating inter-parliamentary cooperation and speeding up the construction of the ASEAN Community by 2015.

At the moment, ASEAN countries are trying best to overcome difficulties, recover and develop their economies, and generate more jobs for their citizens. However, in the mid term, many negative impacts of the global crisis will continue to affect the regional development.
