Governor of the State Bank of Việt Nam (SBV) Nguyễn Văn Giàu and ADB Country Director for Việt Nam Ayumi Konishi today inked a loan agreement on socio-economic development in Thanh Hóa.

Supposed to finish in December 2014, the project helps to expand the network of clean water supply, upgrade 38km of pipeline, and build 27km of drainage and some sewage stations.

Besides, the project also serves to develop tourist infrastructure in Hàm Rồng, Mật Sơn and the downtown of Thanh Hóa City in order to raise productivity and competitiveness of local industry sector.

Moreover, the project provides a non-refundable assistance worth US $2 billion for local water supplier and environment agency to better their capacity.

As part of the project, the Export-Import Bank of the Republic of Korea (RoK), Eximbank of Korea, lent US $32.7 million for the construction of two 11-km belt roads to ease traffic jams in the central city and connect it with surrounding areas.
