April 13, 2010 9:44 AM GMT+7

The decision was made by Permanent Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng, Head of the National Steering Committee for the 1000th anniversary of Thăng Long-Hà Nội.

Mr. Lê Tiến Thọ is currently the Vice Head of the aforesaid Committee and the chief of the Culture and Arts Subcommittee.

On June 10, 2009, the PM approved a 10-day program to celebrate the capital city’s 1000th birthday.

The opening ceremony will be organized in the morning of October 1, 2010 and accompanied by many cultural activities, including an exhibition of socio-economic achievements of Việt Nam and Thăng Long-Hà Nội; an exhibition of cultural and artistic works; a live television show; and an international art performance.

Last month, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng also decided that the main celebration to welcome the grand anniversary of Thăng Long-Hà Nội will be conducted on October 10 with a national-level parade.
