42nd National Day of Lao PDR marked in Ha Noi

VGP – The Lao Embassy in Viet Nam hosted a banquet on November 29 in celebration of the 42nd National Day of Lao People’s Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975) and the 55th founding anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962).

Addressing the event, Lao Ambassador Thongsavanh Phomvihane acknowledged the support the Vietnamese Party, State and people have given to his country’s struggle for national liberation in the past and national development at present.

That support illustrates the pure relationship between Viet Nam and Laos, which is a priceless asset which must be maintained and passed down to future generations, he noted.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Party, State and people, Politburo member, Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh offered congratulations on Laos’s National Day.

He expressed his belief that Laos will successfully implement the resolution of the 10th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the eighth five-year socio-economic development plan, building Laos into a prosperous nation.

Deputy PM Minh said “The special relationship between Viet Nam and Laos has withstood countless ordeals, hardships and sacrifices, and been nurtured by bloods and bones in the struggle for the independence, freedom and happiness of our two peoples and nations.”

The two countries have also attained numerous results at the multilateral level, in particular our close cooperation within ASEAN as well as other international and regional forums, he said.

He expressed his belief that the two countries will continue to accompany each other, elevate cooperation in all areas, thus living up to the aspiration and interest of the two peoples and contributing to the building of a peaceful, stable and prosperous ASEAN Community./.
