35th anniversary of VN-India diplomatic tie establishing celebrated in New Delhi

VNGOVNet – The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized in the evening of February 27 a feast to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of full diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and India (1972-2007) and welcome the official friendly visit to India by Vietnamese Deputy PM, Foreign Minister Phạm Gia Khiêm.

The attendants to the celebration included Vietnamese Deputy PM, Foreign Minister Phạm Gia Khiêm, Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee, many Government officials of the host country, members of the India-Vietnam Friendship Association, the India-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, delegates of the Vietnamese Government attending the 13th meeting of the India-Vietnam Joint-committee for economic, trade, scientific and technical cooperation, and some staff of the Vietnamese embassy to India.

In his address to open the ceremony, Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee asserted that the bilateral relationship built by President Hồ Chí Minh and Premier Jawaharlal Nehru over 50 years ago has constantly evolved on the basis of genuine goodwill and mutual respect. The Minister proudly sees that Vietnam and India are emerging as two among the world’s fastest developing economies. He emphasized that Vietnam is always a key ASEAN partner in Indian’s "Look East" policy. 

In his reply, Deputy PM, Foreign Minister Phạm Gia Khiêm thanked the Indian Government and people’s support and assistance to Vietnam in the past and at the present. He affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy is to promote traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, which will be developed to a new height.
