12th Int’l Conference of EASTS opens in HCM City

VGP - The 12th International Conference of Eastern Asia Society For Transportation Studies is taking place in Ho Chi Minh City.

The conference themed “Vision and action plan towards Safe, green and integrated transport” will focus on use and management of individual vehicles, application of intelligent transportation systems, enhancing the safety and sustainability of transportation, increase of public transport usage, coping with climate change.

The event has attracted the participation of more than 800 delegates including transport experts and researchers from 19 countries.

The four-day event will feature 100 discussion sessions, including eight special sessions discussing the hot issues of large cities, such as construction planning, the development of safe and green transport systems, attraction of investment in urban railways, restriction of personal vehicles, and the application of information technology in transport and public transport.

During the discussion sessions, experts are expected to share their experience and give solutions to improve and deal with any shortcomings in the urban transport system, which will become the basis for Viet Nam to consult, in a bid to develop the urban transport infrastructure in Viet Nam.

EASTS (Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies), an umbrella organization of transportation science societies in Eastern Asia, was founded in November 1994 following the meeting with more than 600 transport experts from 13 countries and regions, such as Australia, Cambodia, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Viet Nam.
