11th Party Congress wraps up in HN

VGP – The 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) was closed on January 19 after nine working days, with the election of CPV Central Committee and approval of key documents for national development.

Addressing the closing ceremony, newly-elected Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng highlighted that the Party Congress has engaged in energetic, frank, democratic discussions and unanimously adopted both long-term and short-term strategic documents for national development.

These documents include the Platform on national construction in the transitional period towards Socialism (supplemented and developed in 2011); the Strategy on socio-economic development for 2011-2020 period, the Political orientations and tasks for 2011-2015, report on amendments and supplements to the Party Statute (supplemented and revised). 

The Party Congress reflected the solid determination of the Party to lead the entire Party, people and army to fulfill the goal of “continuing to enhance the Party’s leadership capacity and combativeness, promoting the nation’s synergy, comprehensively boosting the đổi mới (renewal) process, creating the fundamentals for Việt Nam to basically become a modern-oriented industrialized country by 2020”.

The Party chief underlined that the 11th CPV Central Committee comprises outstanding comrades representing over 3.6 million Party members, who have fully met criteria in terms of qualifications, ability, professionalism and ethics to shoulder the heavy responsibility assigned by the Party and people.

The Party Congress extremely attached importance to the Party building, considering it as a top task.

Party leader Nguyễn Phú Trọng appreciated and extended his gratitude to revolutionary seniors, grass-root Party organizations, socio-political organizations, and overseas Vietnamese for their frank and honest contribution to the success of the Party Congress.

He also thanked worldwide communist and ruling parties, organizations and friends for sending 176 congratulatory messages to the Vietnamese Party Congress. 

The success of the 11th National Party Congress, said Mr. Trọng, has generated huge encouragement for the entire Party, people and army to surmount difficulties and challenges, to seize new opportunities for the target of converting Việt Nam into a modern-oriented industrialized country by 2020. 

The General Secretary also recommend Party organizations at all levels be aware, popularize and put the Resolution and Congress documents into reality.

General Secretary Trọng also called on the entire Party, people and army, domestic and overseas Vietnamese to uphold patriotism, self-reliance, self-improvement, and national unity strength, and do their best to implement the Congress’s Resolution successfully, step up the renewal process in a comprehensive manner for the country’s fast and sustainable development, aiming to successfully fulfill the goal of a wealthy people, a strong country, and democratic, equal, civilized society, firmly advancing toward socialism./.
