10th meeting of the Japan-VN Cooperation Committee held

VGP – Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh and Japanese FM Taro Kono on September 13 co-chaired the 10th meeting of the Japan-Viet Nam Cooperation Committee in Ha Noi.

The two leaders were delight on the strong, comprehensive and practical development in Viet Nam-Japan extensive strategic partnership and achievements in cooperation in fields of economics, trade, investment, agriculture, response to climate change, labor, health and tourism. 

They agreed to maintain high-ranking delegation exchanges, enhance cooperation between ministries, agencies and localities in all fields as well as discussed specific measures to prepare for high-ranking leaders’ visits in the time ahead. 

They asserted to launch the seventh phase of Viet Nam-Japan Joint Initiative to boost Japan’s investment in Viet Nam and join hand to soon put the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) into effect. 

Both leaders referred to cooperative measures in Official Development Assistance (ODA), implementation of ODA projects, ways to accelerate the progress of ODA projects and Japan-invested projects in Viet Nam in the basis of ensuring the effectiveness and laws of each side as well as consented to promote cooperation in form of public-private partnerships (PPP).

The host and the guest exchanged measures to support the development of auxiliary industry and automobile industry in Viet Nam and facilitate Viet Nam’s farm products such as litchi, logan and star apple to enter Japan and Japan’s orange to be imported in Viet Nam. 

The Deputy PM extended sympathy over loss of the Japanese people after the earthquakes in Hokkaido. 

He expressed thanks and hailed the Japanese Government’s ODA for Viet Nam, suggesting Japan back Viet Nam to establish e-Government, reform public administration, set up standards on smart urbanization and receive more laborers from Viet Nam. 

The Japanese FM confirmed that Japan advocates and is willing to support Viet Nam to develop sustainably through improving investment environment and competitiveness of industries, increasing labor capacity, establishing high-quality infrastructure, training human resources, providing ODA for infrastructure development, reforming administrative procedures, responding to climate change and receiving more Vietnamese trainees.     

The two leaders were unanimous in organizing activities on the 45th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2018, thus enhancing cooperation in tourism, cultural exchange, people-to-people exchange and locality-to-locality exchange.
