10th Party Central Committee convenes 5th plenum
VNGOP - The 5th plenum of the 10th Communist Party of Việt Nam Central Committee (CPVCC) opened in Hà Nội, on July 5, with General Secretary of the Party Central Committee Nông Đức Mạnh delivering the opening address.

Topping the meeting’s agenda will be the renovation of the party's leadership, accelerating administrative reforms, improving the efficiency of the State management apparatus and increasing supervision and inspections within the Party. The conference will also consider the ideological and theoretical work, the media industry, government apparatus streamlining and the leadership preparation at some State agencies.
The 5th CPVCC Plenum also focuses on Party and State construction to implement the 10th Party Resolution, guiding the realization of major tasks in the near future as well as the following years.
The meeting is scheduled to last until July 14.
