1,000 tons of rice provided to Durian victims in Bến Tre Province

VNGOVNet – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng decided on December 8 to provide 1,000 tons of rice from the National Reserve as famine relief to Durian-stricken victims in Bến Tre Province.

The PM requested the Bến Tre Province People’s Committee Chairman to be responsible for managing and using the aid in line with purposes and regulations.

Typhoon Durian was reported to have caused heavy damage to Bến Tre Province, leaving 16 people killed and 492 others injured, 29,048 houses collapsed and other 92,600 without a roof, 73 classrooms pulled down and over 18 ha of rice and non-rice crops destroyed. The province’s electric and communication networks were completely broken and the traffic system, blocked. The total damage is estimated at over VND 3,000 billion.
